(image: WPMI) Hurricane season is fast approaching so how should you prepare?

It is never too early to start preparing for a hurricane. Here are a few things to get your prep started:

You need a 3-day supply of water - one gallon per person

3 day supply of non-perishable, easy to fix food along with a can opener

Flashlight and extra batteries

First aid kit

Cell phones and chargers - also consider having a portable charger on hand in case loss of power

Medicine - enough for a 7 day supply

Baby food

Pet food

Extra cash - if you lose power during a storm - atm machines will not work

Important documents - anything from medical documents to insurance policies, birth certificates, etc

Also - have a list of emergency contacts and a family emergency plan

Know what you will do if you plan to evacuate

Know which evacuation route you will take

Establish an out of state contact that can help you

Make sure your gas tank is half-full at all times
