First responders show support for Mayor Stimpson
MOBILE, Ala. (WPMI) —
Mobile Mayor Sandy Stimpson is getting a major endorsement from our city’s first responders.
Hundreds of police, firefighters and family members took to the streets Wednesday showing their support for the Mayor.
“Four years ago Sandy said that he would make us a promise to make public safety a number one priority,” Mobile’s Public Safety Director James Barber said. “We have gotten new equipment, we've gotten competitive wages and he's kept his promise. He kept his word and we are here to support him for another four years"
Stimpson now has the endorsement of four local law enforcement unions: Mobile police association, mobile county law enforcement association, mobile fire and rescue - local 1349, and Mobile Citizen’s Police Academy Alumni
“For a mayor to have this kind of support from fire and rescue and police it's just an amazing situation,” Mayor Sandy Stimpson said.
Robert Warren, the president of Mobile Citizen's Police Academy Association, says this is the first time they have ever endorsed a politician before.
"Our association for the first time ever has decided to support a politician and its sandy Stimson,” President of Mobile Citizen's Police Academy Association Robert Warren said. “He supports what we believe in and we believe in.”
Stimpson says his number on priority is and always will be public safety.
“My number one goal is to take care of our citizens and who ever can help me to do that that's who I am for,” said Mobile Fire-Rescue Chief Mark Sealy.
