Downtown Mobile landmark to be renovated into apartments
MOBILE, Ala. (WPMI) —
Another historic downtown building is being transformed into apartments. During the city council meeting Tuesday, developers met with city leaders to discuss the Seaman's Club.
The building at 350 St. Joseph Street was once known as City Hall North and will soon be turned be used for housing. Once complete, the Seaman's Club will include 70 apartment units, a dog park, and rooftop amenities.
"This meets the demand for single family housing in downtown Mobile, "said Stephen McNair with McNair Historic Preservation, "this is one of the last major buildings that hasn't been developed downtown".
The Seaman's Club is a $7 million project and is expected to be complete sometime in 2018.
