Council sides with neighbors against controversial midtown Mobile car wash plan
MOBILE, Ala. (WPMI) —
A car wash controversy continued in the city council chambers Tuesday as a quiet midtown community voiced a loud stance against a development proposal in their backyards for a carwash with 36 vacuum stalls.
A developer wants to build a car wash right across the street from Sage Park on the old Graf Dairy Farm property, a huge span of undeveloped land right along Dauphin Street.
In May, the Mobile City Planning Commissioned denied this planned unit proposal.
An appeal before the city council was rejected during Tuesday’s meeting, as the council unanimously voted to deny the appeal.
