Bystanders rescue woman, child from a sinking car


A Pensacola woman is in the hospital after she crashed her car into the water Thursday.

It happened just before 10 a.m. near navy point.

Officials say the driver veered off the road and went through a wooden barrier before plunging into the water. A couple of bystanders jumped into action and pulled the driver and a six-year-old girl from the sinking car.

The woman was critically injured and taken to Baptist Hospital . The girl was shaken, but apparently okay.

According to troopers, the driver may have suffered a medical issue
