ALDOT adding rumble stripe to Highway 98
MOBILE, Ala. (WPMI) —
A centerline "rumble stripe" will be added into the middle of the road to alert drivers with a noise and physical vibration when they are leaving the driving lane.
Highway 98, often called "Bloody 98" for the number of deadly accidents, will be the first state highway in Alabama to receive the safety measure.
County officials say accidents went up 62 percent from 2012 to 2014, several of them proved deadly.
The road will also be resurfaced and restriped for nearly 11 miles from the Mississippi state line to Snow Road.
Work will be done Monday through Friday from 8 a-m until 4 p-m.
The entire project is expected to be finished by the fall.
