According to the Baldwin County Sheriffs Office, on Saturday August 5, 2017, Deputies received a call at 12320 Lot B County Road 26, in Magnolia Springs of a possible drowning of a 3-year-old child.

Upon arrival at the residence deputies discovered a 3-year-old child lying on the ground next to a pond that was at the rear of the residence. Deputies started CPR in an attempt to resuscitate the child. Paramedics arrived shortly thereafter and took over the resuscitation efforts. The child was transported to South Baldwin Hospital in Foley where he was pronounced deceased.

The investigation of this incident continues but it appears that the 3-year-old and his siblings were traveling from his grandmother’s home back to his residence where his mother was when he ended up in the pond. The distance from both residences is approximately 40 yards. The children had apparently had breakfast at their grandmothers and were on their way home when the incident occurred.

The victim is identified as 3-year-old Joseph T. Farrell.
